What makes the Hoard Book different?

Good question! There are lots of apps and books and resources out there to teach children about money. We encourage you to try them all. Different children learn best in different ways, and the more children find out about learning about money, the better! After all, they’re going to be dealing with it every day as adults.

As for The Hoard Book, we focus on concepts, rather than the maths. To do that, it uses a fictional world with a fictional currency. This allows the numbers to be simpler than real world currencies, and lets children focus on the concepts they’re learning. As they develop more experience with real world numbers and money, they’ll be able to apply the concepts they’ve learnt.

A fictional world also makes it more fun! They can learn while reading about dragons and a whole set of fun characters. The email comes every month, so they can follow Taj the dragon through his journey and learn with him, rather than being taught by someone who already has the answers. It keeps the learning active and helps then remember and apply the concepts they learn.

Ultimately, we just want children to get financially literate. The Hoard Book is just one tool in the box.
